QUALITY PROGRAMS
The Quality Management System at Triten Alloy Products Group exemplifies our commitment to unsurpassed product quality at a competitive price, with on-time delivery. Plant operations are certified to meet the highest industry standards, including ASME and ASTM.
Our manufacturing specialists analyze project specifications and develop a manufacturing plan. The Quality Assurance Team will monitor progress of the project to ensure compliance to the manufacturing plan and all applicable industry standards and codes. The Quality Management System includes stringent controls of purchased materials. Those controls include inspection and testing to ASME and ASTM standards for physical and chemical properties, prior to acceptance. Certified Mill Test Reports are verified and Heat Numbers are tracked and recorded throughout the manufacturing process.
Quality Assurance personnel are certified as ASNT NDT Level II in Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle and Ultrasonic examination. ASTM G 65 Abrasion Test and Photo-Micro-Structure Examination are conducted and evaluated on-site. An independent agency performs and evaluates radiography results.
-
• ASME Section VIII, Division 1 Code Shop
-
• All welders ASME Section IX-qualified
-
• “U and “R” Certificates
-
• National Board - Repairs and Alterations
Our ASME Certificates of Authorization provide a promise of unsurpassed product quality at a competitive price, with on-time delivery.
All plant operations are conducted under the highest quality-control standards in accordance with our quality system. The manufacturing phase of each project is planned by skilled experts and monitored by our Quality Assurance Team to assure conformance to our quality system, and that our customers receive the best product possible. Materials are purchased to ASME and/or ASTM Standards with mill test reports for verification of required chemical and physical properties. After fabrication, we conduct product tests using various methods, including radiography, ultrasonic, magnetic particle and/or liquid penetrant. Prior to customer acceptance, we contract an authorized independent inspection agency to verify testing and compliance to ASME or other codes.
Our quality system conformance is verified by licensed, outside auditors on an annual basis.
UK Overview
Our UK manufacturing plant is located in Barnsley, England, and contains 50,000 square feet of workspace and storage. The facility is strategically located to service the European community, offering a machine shop, fabrication shop and hardfaced plate shop. Triten Alloy Products Group UK can provide clients with a wide range of overlay, refurbishment and fabrication services.
Our fabrication personnel minimum qualification level is BS4872, with certain personnel trained to ASME IX.
Triten Alloy Products Group UK provides specialized manufacturing and welding capabilities, allowing us to offer unique methods of operation for the refurbishment of worn parts or the manufacture of new components incorporating Triten’s proprietary wear-resistant materials. This provides our customers with significant benefits, including longer service life and less downtime, resulting in greater productivity. The actual methods employed vary greatly and are determined by the project requirements on the basis of practicality, efficiency and economy and include:
HARDFACED ROLL MANUFACTURING AND REFURBISHMENT
We are a leading specialist in the manufacture and refurbishment of hardfaced rolls for steel mills, food manufacture and other industries. We provide single-source access to all aspects of roll engineering, delivering ready-to-fit solutions for all types of roll wear problems and application requirements. Triten Alloy Products Group calls upon over 50 years of experience in the development and use of sophisticated wear-resistant alloys. This provides customers with a wide choice of materials and hardfacing processes.

DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE OF NEW ROLLS
We work closely with customers to design and develop a wide range of rolls for use at ambient or elevated temperatures, with a choice of surface finishes as low as 0.4 μm (16μin). This includes calendar rolls, conveyor rolls, crusher rolls, grooved rolls and specially profiled roll sets for bar straightening.
Repair and Refurbishment Service
In addition to the cost savings achieved by recovering worn rolls that might otherwise be scrapped, the correct selection of hardfacing alloy can deliver considerable gain in useful life over the original product. This service typically involves pre-machining worn rolls to the correct profile, rebuilding with a suitable “buttering layer,” hardfacing with a wear-resistant alloy and finishing to customer specification. Post-weld heat treatment and dynamic balancing are also available. In addition to roll reclamation, we repair many types of associated roll plant equipment such as bearing housings, heavy duty chocks, mandrels, hoist drums, drive shafts, spindles and more. Ultrasonic, dye penetrant, magnetic particle and other non-destructive testing procedures are carried out in-house by qualified inspectors. All products manufactured are completed under strict quality control systems approved to ISO 9001 - 2000. |
Nationwide Collection and Delivery
A nationwide collection and delivery service for rolls and other items is available and on-site work can also be undertaken if required.
Steel Mill Rolls
We manufacture and refurbish rolls and associated equipment for various sections of steel plants including:
-
• Continuous casting
-
• Hot strip and plate mills
-
• Hot and cold levellers
-
• Section mills
-
• Chocks, spindles and drive shafts
Hot and Cold Strip Mills
We work with coiler pinch rolls, cradle rolls, mandrel segments, deflector rolls and a wide range of table rolls and end furniture.
Food Industry Rolls
The use of low-fat food products has led to increased problems with surface corrosion on conventional chill cast iron rolls. We offer a solution to this problem with a range of rolls for cracking and flaking cereals, biscuit-making and other related applications that require hardfaced corrosion-resistant alloys such as 12-14 percent martensitic steel.
Other Industries
An example of work for other industries is the manufacture of complex steam/water-heated calendar rolls. These incorporate a multi-start internal spiral waterway that is shrink-fitted with a shell hardfaced with Type H11 tool steel, and then surface-ground to a 0.4μm (16μin) finish. The completed assembly produces exceptional thermal efficiency and excellent operation lift.
