Abrasion Overview
 • Triten Alloy Product Group’s method of manufacturing overlay plate produces high-quality overlay that greatly extends component service life. Our narrow overlay bead morphology and characteristic fine pattern of stress-cracking deliver optimum resistance to the loss of the protective overlay in even the most severe conditions.

• Our process methodology incorporates high-density, wear-resistant carbides in a tough, wear-resistant matrix. This helps to ensure maximum durability and performance.
 • Our process controls ensure consistent, high-quality overlays. We carefully monitor the development and application of overlays, from customized alloy mixes to our standard alloy mixes.

PLATE
Using our proprietary Bulkweld process, we manufacture a wide range of wear-resistant overlays for steel plates. The properties of these overlay compositions and substrates are engineered to provide extended service life at ambient and elevated temperatures in arduous environments where abrasion, erosion and impact prevail.

Triten Alloy Products Group’s plates are available in a range of thicknesses and overlay alloy/base plate combinations to match customer specifications. Our proprietary plate overlay technology can be used for both modification of standard equipment and the development of specialized alloys to meet application needs.

We also offer in-house cutting and fabrication of wear-resistant plate as either liners or complete structures. We provide custom hardfacing with various alloy compositions to protect or refurbish a wide range of components.

PIPE
Hardfacing overlays can extend the service life of pipes used in industrial applications such as pneumatic and hydraulic conveying systems (dredging, suction lines, air ducts and slurry pumps).

Triten Alloy Products Group’s manufacturing centers can apply alloy overlays to pipes of varying sizes, including small-diameter pipe. Our specialized welding manipulators can accommodate small-diameter pipe with lengths up to 20 feet, which greatly reduces the number of circumferential weld seams required for longer pipes. This improves the quality and durability of the finished product. Our specialized welding system allows weld overlays to be applied to both the outside and inside diameter of the pipe.

VESSELS
Because of their size, function and unique characteristics, industrial vessels are difficult and expensive to construct and maintain. Pressurized conditions, elevated temperatures and the conveying of abrasive products all contribute to accelerated wear and/or erosion of vessels.

The use of alloy overlays can greatly extend the lifespan of many types of industrial vessels, including pressurized containers, boilers, transition modules and strainers.  In the past, alloy overlays were considered a temporary solution for most vessels. Today, however, the overlay can be integrated into the original design of the vessel, providing a permanent upgrade.

ELECTRODES - Tubular Electrodes
The Triten range of tubular electrodes was developed specifically for wear-resistant hardfacing. The properties of the alloys making up the tubular range are engineered to provide extended service life at ambient and elevated temperatures in aggressive environments involving abrasion, erosion and impact. Compatability has been developed between the alloys of the tubular hardfacing electrodes and our overlay plates.

Unlike extruded welding rods, the outer coatings of the our tubular electrodes are moisture-resistant. They do not require special storage conditions, will not flake when damp, and resist mechanical damage. All electrodes can be used direct from the packet, without prebaking. They do not require deslagging between runs, and application is fast and efficient. A unified stub end enables all electrodes to be used in a standard ¼-inch holder. Hardfacing can be carried out using most portable AC or DC welders.

ROLL OVERLAY
A division of Triten Alloy Products Group, Trimay Engineering Services manufactures and refurbishes hardfaced rolls for steel mills, food processing and other industries. Trimay provides a single source for all aspects of roll engineering, and delivers ready-to-fit solutions for all types of roll wear problems and application requirements. Trimay works closely with customers to design and develop rolls for use at ambient or elevated temperatures. Examples include calendar rolls, conveyor rolls, crusher rolls, grooved rolls and profiled rolls. Trimay manufactures and refurbishes rolls and related equipment for various applications, including:
  • • Continuous casting
  • • Hot strip and plate mills
  • • Hot and cold levelers
  • • Section mills
  • • Chocks, spindles and drive shafts
