Triten Alloy Products Group is one of the world’s largest applicators of hardfaced plate and a leading manufacturer of industrial materials that resist abrasion, corrosion and impact. Those materials include overlay plate, hardfaced rolls and tubular hardfacing electrodes.
With engineering, production and manufacturing centers in the United States and the United Kingdom, Triten APG serves customers across the globe in petrochemicals, oil refining, industrial manufacturing, food processing, mining, metals recycling and other industries.
We use a wide range of customizable fabrication processes to meet customers’ needs for mission-critical materials that help increase profit and productivity. Our products are available in all industrial markets worldwide and are supported locally through a network of approved partners and distributors. |

Developing and applying sophisticated wear-resistant alloys has been the core of Triten Alloy Products Group’s business for over 60 years.
We began in the 1950s by manufacturing abrasion-resistant pipe and refurbishing slide valves for the petrochemical industry. In 1961, founder Roman Arnoldy invented the Bulkweld process. This paved the way for a more efficient and less costly means of applying wear protection to pipes, valves, rolls and other metal components that are subjected to rigorous wear. This process has been continuously improved over the years, and provides the foundation of our wear-resistant overlay steel plate.
In 1965, Mr. Arnoldy used the patented Bulkweld process to manufacture hardfaced plate, and the company began to produce it commercially. Using the Bulkweld process, hardfaced plate was manufactured nearly three times faster than it could be using conventional welding. This gave our customers a competitive advantage both in quality and quantity of finished materials. |

Since succeeding his father in 1989, John Arnoldy has kept the company on a path of innovation. That path includes investments in platemaking and engineering companies in the United Kingdom and construction of a 50,000-square-foot facility in South Yorkshire, England, to serve customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Today, Houston-based Triten APG is among the world leaders in helping companies protect industrial materials from abrasion, corrosion and impact. We have manufacturing and distribution in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. We sell and market products and services directly and through agents and representatives in 50 countries worldwide. |

Triten Alloy Product Group’s history is rich with innovation. In 1961, founder Roman Arnoldy invented the Bulkweld process. This paved the way for a more efficient, less costly means of applying wear protection to pipes, valves, rolls and other metal components that are subjected to rigorous wear.
In 1965, we revolutionized the production of hardfaced plate, a product that helped industrial refineries process raw materials faster and reduce wear and tear on equipment. Using the Bulkweld process, we manufactured hardfaced plate nearly three times faster than using conventional welding techniques. |
 |
In 1972, we manufactured the first fabricated slide valve to improve flow control of heavy, abrasive materials. In the 1980s, we invented a number of alloys, including T-211, T-233 and T-282. Each of these high-endurance alloys helped customers improve productivity and reduce maintenance costs associated with industrial wear and tear.
In 1999, we developed an elbow overlay applicator that is calibrated to adjust to bends or diversions within a pipe. This innovation offers major improvements in application efficiency and quality. We also designed an overlay machine that applies hardfacing to small-diameter pipe. This machine can accommodate internally hardfaced pipe with a minimum internal bore diameter of 4 inches and maximum pipe lengths of 20 feet.
This provides our customers with longer-lasting, more cost-effective pipe for transporting abrasive materials through either pneumatic or hydraulic pipe conveying systems. |
 |
To meet the increasing demand for hardfaced small-diameter pipe, we’ve improved the capacity of pipe overlay machines in our Houston facility, making it easier for us to manufacture and ship orders of multiple lengths of hardfaced pipe. Our commitment to product research and developing new formulas and manufacturing processes has never wavered. We hold over 60 U.S. and international patents. We can research and customize alloy mixes at the point of fabrication. |
